Pricing Overview
Ultahost publishes every figure openly, which is rarer in hosting than it should be. What it does not do is show you a monthly price when you arrive. The plan cards load pre-set to a two-year commitment, and the number you read first is roughly a fifth below the rate you would pay month to month.
Disclosure: Stack99 earns a commission if you buy through links on this page. It costs you nothing extra and never changes our assessment.
We captured both states on 4 October 2026 and worked the arithmetic through. Below is every published rate for shared hosting and VPS, which term each belongs to, and where the per-unit value actually sits.
The Default Term Is Two Years

Four billing terms sit above the plan cards: Monthly, Yearly at 30% off, 2 Years at 40% off and 3 Years at 50% off. The page arrives with 2 Years selected.
The giveaway is in the small print under each price. Where a monthly buyer sees “Renews at $4.39 monthly”, the default view reads “Renews at $3.44/mo for 2 years”. The qualifier is there, in grey, below a large number. Anyone skimming for a headline rate will take the wrong one.
A countdown clock runs alongside the plans, tied to a site-wide banner advertising 40% off all hosting services for a limited time. Treat any figure here as a promotional rate rather than a standing list price.
Shared Hosting Prices, Both States
Here are both states side by side. The monthly column is the true monthly rate.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Shared Starter | $4.39/mo | monthly term; $3.44/mo on two years. 1 domain, ~10,000 visits, 30 GB NVMe |
| Shared Basic | $6.39/mo | monthly term; $5.18/mo on two years. 4 domains, ~15,000 visits, 60 GB NVMe |
| Shared Business | $12.29/mo | monthly term; $10.35/mo on two years. Unlimited domains, ~25,000 visits, 80 GB NVMe |
| Shared Pro | $16.29/mo | monthly term; $13.23/mo on two years. Unlimited domains, ~49,000 visits, 110 GB NVMe |

Every shared plan carries the same baseline: unlimited bandwidth, free backups, free domain transfer, free SSL certificates and a 30-day money-back guarantee. What changes between tiers is domains, traffic allowance and storage.
What The Discount Labels Actually Mean
The labels and the arithmetic disagree, and the gap is worth a paragraph.
On the two-year term each card reads “Save 40%” against a struck price. On monthly the same cards read “Save 25%”. Both are discounts against Ultahost’s own undiscounted figure, not against each other. Compare the two real rates instead and the two-year commitment saves you between 16% and 22%.
- Starter: $4.39 monthly against $3.44 on two years, a saving of $0.95 a month or 21.6%.
- Basic: $6.39 against $5.18, a saving of $1.21 or 18.9%.
- Business: $12.29 against $10.35, a saving of $1.94 or 15.8%.
- Pro: $16.29 against $13.23, a saving of $3.06 or 18.8%.
Over twenty-four months, Starter costs $82.56 committed against $105.36 paid monthly. Twenty-two dollars and eighty cents is the whole prize for locking in two years. Decide accordingly.
One inconsistency we noticed and could not resolve. Shared Basic shows a pre-discount figure of $9.19 on the two-year view and $9.29 on monthly. A ten cent difference in the struck-through price suggests two separate figures rather than one base rate, so do not read the struck prices as a stable reference.
VPS Hosting Prices
Virtual private servers follow the same pattern, with a Linux and Windows toggle on top of the four billing terms. Figures below are the two-year rates shown by default.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| VPS Basic | $5.52/mo | two-year term, from $9.19 undiscounted. 1 core, 1 GB DDR5, 30 GB NVMe, managed |
| VPS Business | $9.78/mo | two-year term, from $16.10. 2 cores, 2 GB DDR5, 50 GB NVMe, DDoS protection |
| VPS Professional | $15.87/mo | two-year term, from $26.22. 3 cores, 4 GB DDR5, 75 GB NVMe |
| VPS Enterprise | $20.69/mo | two-year term, from $34.49. 4 cores, 6 GB DDR5, 100 GB NVMe |
| VDS | Custom | separate tier above Enterprise, advertised with 4.3 GHz CPUs |
Every VPS tier is sold as managed and includes a dedicated IPv4 address, with IPv6 allocations rising from four addresses on Basic to eight on the upper tiers. Entry VPS at $5.52 undercuts Shared Business at $10.35, which is unusual and worth pausing on: root access costs less here than the mid shared tier.
Resources explain the difference. VPS Basic gives you one core, one gigabyte of memory and thirty gigabytes of storage. Shared Business gives you eighty gigabytes and an allowance of roughly twenty-five thousand visits. Buy VPS for control, not for capacity.
Cost Per Gigabyte And Per Visit
Divide the two-year rates by what each plan actually provides and the ladder stops looking like a ladder.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $0.115/GB | per gigabyte of NVMe per month at the two-year rate |
| Basic | $0.086/GB | cheapest storage of the four |
| Business | $0.129/GB | most expensive storage of the four |
| Pro | $0.120/GB | cheaper per gigabyte than Business despite costing more |
Shared Business is the worst value per gigabyte on the page. It costs twice what Basic does and adds only twenty gigabytes. What you buy with that money is unlimited domains and a traffic allowance that rises from roughly fifteen thousand to twenty-five thousand visits.
Run the same exercise on traffic and the ranking shifts again. Per thousand monthly visits at two-year rates, Pro works out at $0.270, Starter at $0.344, Basic at $0.345 and Business at $0.414. Pro is the best value on traffic and Business the worst on both measures.
The practical reading: if storage is your constraint, Basic. If traffic is your constraint, skip Business and go to Pro. Business only makes sense when the unlimited domain allowance is what you came for.
Renewal Pricing
Hosting is a category where the renewal is usually the real price, so this deserves checking. Every shared card states the renewal rate explicitly, and it matches the purchase rate. Monthly buyers see “Renews at $4.39 monthly”. Two-year buyers see “Renews at $3.44/mo for 2 years”.
Taken at face value, that means no renewal cliff on the stated term. Plenty of hosts advertise a low first term and double the price at renewal, so a vendor printing the renewal figure on the card is doing something right. The caveat is the promotional banner: a rate framed as a limited-time 40% discount may not be the rate on offer when your term ends.
Which Plan To Buy
Four straightforward recommendations.
- One site, modest traffic: Starter at $4.39 monthly. Pay monthly until the site proves itself, then commit.
- Several small sites: Basic at $6.39 monthly. Four domains, double the storage, and the best cost per gigabyte on the page.
- Growing traffic: Pro at $16.29 monthly. Better value per visit than every tier below it, and Business is a step you can skip.
- Root access needed: VPS Basic at $5.52 on two years. Cheaper than mid-tier shared hosting, with far less storage.

What We Could Not Verify
Three things we left out rather than guess at.
The yearly and three-year terms carry their own figures that we did not capture, so only monthly and two-year rates appear above. The headline savings on those toggles read 30% and 50% respectively.
A customer rating of 4.9 out of 5 from more than 2,500 reviews is displayed on the hosting pages. The underlying review platform refuses our declared crawler, so we cannot verify it and have not treated it as a fact.
Windows VPS pricing sits behind a separate toggle we did not capture. The figures above are Linux.
Verdict
Ultahost prices honestly in one important sense: the figures are public, the renewal rate is printed on the card, and the money-back guarantee is thirty days. That puts it ahead of hosts who make you reach checkout to learn anything.
The presentation is less honest. Loading on a two-year term while labelling the saving 40%, when the real gap against monthly is closer to 19%, pushes buyers toward a long commitment on a misleading comparison. Switch the toggle to Monthly before you decide anything, and remember that the cheapest tier per gigabyte is Basic rather than anything above it.
All figures read from ultahost.com/shared-hosting and ultahost.com/vps-hosting on 4 October 2026. Per-unit costs are our arithmetic on those published numbers.
